Wells Mountain Foundation offers undergraduate scholarships to students from developing countries to study in their home country or any other developing country. The foundation’s hope is that by providing the opportunity to further one’s education, the scholarship participants will not only be able to improve their own future, but also that of their own communities. The foundation believes in the power and importance of community service and, as a result, all scholarship participants are required to volunteer for a minimum of one month a year.

Type of Scholarship

The scholarship is for candidates who are interested in pursuing a course in the undergraduate program.  

Field of study

All fields are eligible although WMF intends to favor helping professions such as health care, social work, education, social justice. As well as, professions that help the economy and progress of the country such as computers, engineering, agriculture, and business.

Eligible Countries:

Candidates from all Developing Countries are eligible to apply for the Wells Mountain Education Undergraduate Scholarship Program.

Who is qualified to apply in 2021? 

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must be a student, male or female, from a country in the developing world, who:

 Successfully completed secondary education, with good to excellent gradesIs 35 or under on March 1, 2021Will be studying in his or her country or another country in the developing world*Is pursuing his or her first bachelor’s degree or diplomaWill be enrolled in a program of study that will benefit the community and/or contributes to the continued growth and advancement of his or her home country Plans to live and work in his or her own country after graduationHas demonstrated his or her commitment to giving back and has volunteered prior to applyingMay have some other funds available for his or her education, but will not be able to go to pursue his or her tertiary degree without financial assistance

Number of Awards: 

The number of awards which are given by the Wells Mountain Education Undergraduate Scholarship Program lies between 10 to 30 per year

Scholarship Benefits  

The benefits of the Wells Mountain Education Undergraduate Scholarship Program include; The maximum scholarship is $3,000 USD. Wells Mountain Scholarship range from $300 USD to $3000 USD annually and is provided throughout the undergraduate education of the recipient. The average scholarship amount is $1500.

How to Apply: 

To apply for the WMI Scholars Program, you must submit a completed application through the online scholarship application process via website (preferred method) or via postal mail to arrive at their office before 11:59 PM EST on March 1, 2021. Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation written by someone who knows you but is not a family member, who can tell why you deserve to receive a WMF scholarship. What qualities do you possess that will make you an excellent student, a successful graduate, and a responsible citizen who will give back to his or her country? These letters of recommendation may come from a teacher, a religious leader, a volunteer supervisor, or an employer.
