Sasol Bursary in South Africa 2022 Scheme Benefits

The Sasol Scholarship is a full scholarship that includes the following:

100% of the prescribed university tuition fees, enrollment fees, and exam fees. An amount equal to the average rate of accommodation in a single room in a university residence at the university where Sasol’s bursar is studying. Sasol determines this rate together with the university. An amount for meals based on three meals per day, as determined by the university. An amount of approximately R12,000.00 per year, for books and pocket moneyThe prescribed tuition fees, enrollment fees, and exam fees are paid directly to the university. Accommodation fees are paid directly to the university if the student stays in university-managed accommodation. Students must pay for repeated subjects. In cases where the student chooses to remain in a non-university managed accommodation, the money instead of the accommodation and meals will be paid directly to the individual. In such cases, the quantities will be limited to what is prescribed in points 2 and 3 above. Books and pocket money will be paid directly to the person. Payments regarding the above are made twice a year. The first payment is made at the beginning of the first semester, and the second payment is made at the beginning of the second semester. Full details of the payment process and the requirements that must be met are communicated to the selected applicants once a scholarship has been awarded. Selected applicants will be contractually obligated to work in Sasol after graduation for a period equal to the duration of the scholarship.Postgraduate students receive a monthly allowance of around R10,000 for the duration of their studies (24 months of master’s degree and 36 months of doctorate).

Eligibility for Sasol Undergraduate/Postgraduate Bursary Programme for South African Students

To be considered for the ongoing bursary scheme, the applicants will be required to fulfill the following eligibility criteria;

Applications must be for full-time studies to obtain an academic degree at an accredited South African university. Applicants must be South African citizens with a valid identification number. All applicants invited to attend an interview must be willing to undergo psychometric tests.

If you are already studying to obtain the degree for which you are applying for a scholarship, you must have passed all the courses for which you have enrolled in the university for the period of study already completed.

Criteria for selection in Sasol Undergraduate/Postgraduate Bursary Scheme Programme

Applications for undergraduate and Postgraduate must be sent to Sasol no later than April 30. Applications must be submitted online. Applicants, who do not have Internet access or access to an Internet cafe in their area, can contact our Sasol Scholarship Application Helpline at 086 010 6235 for help. All shortlisted applicants to attend an interview will be notified at the end of May 2020. The notification is made by phone and written correspondence. Selection interviews generally take place during the public school holidays of June / July of each year. Applicants will be evaluated through a structured panel interview, as well as psychometric tests, and, therefore, will be required to stay in Secunda for one night. Applicants will receive a reimbursement for travel expenses to attend the selection day up to a maximum amount, as determined by Sasol. The result of the selection event will be communicated to the applicants at the end of August. Please note that no correspondence will be maintained in this regard before this date. Selected candidates will receive full documentation related to the Sasol Scholarship Program, as well as a written contract and other documentation to complete. Scholarships are awarded to begin in the following academic year and no payments are made with respect to studies already completed.
